Matthew has worked as the technical director for the Dallas Theater Center, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, and the Old Globe Theatre where he worked on several notable productions, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Giant, and Fly. He was also a project manager for Dallas Stage Scenery and Communilux where he had the opportunity to build scenery for Boston Lyric Opera, The Dallas Opera, Daystar Television Studios, Houston Grand Opera, Theater Under the Stars, and many other tours, operas, and theatre sets. He is currently the Technical Director at the University of North Texas where he teaches, among other subjects, stagecraft, technical direction, CNC programming, stage rigging, and Vectorworks. He received his MFA from San Diego State University and his BA from CSU Fullerton. He has his rigging certification for theater and is a source of authority on the subjects of Rigging, Automation, CNC programming and operations, and cost analysis programming.
