John McIntire started working as the Scene Shop Supervisor at the University of North Texas, Dance and Theater Department in 2012. John's professional set building career began in 2005 when he started working in the photo industry as a set builder/production assistant in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, with clients such as Neiman Marcus, Dillard's, J.C. Penney's, Pier One, Peacock Alley, Cyan Designs, Sam's Club, Chanel, and the Got Milk's NBA/Olympics campaign. He began producing photoshoots for Smith & Noble, and Macy's in 2009 along with working as an Associate Producer for Neiman Marcus shoe and hand bag promo.
In addition to working at UNT's Scene Shop, John is a professional Musician who has played drums and percussion for over 30 years. He has toured the globe and has had the good fortune to meet and perform with a multitude of musicians, supporting acts ranging from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young to Velvet Revolver.
In his "free" time John is a freelance set and prop builder and has worked as a Stage Manager and Props Master for The World's Gameshow, which led to the opportunity to work as Stage Manager for Steve Martin and Martin Short. John is also a proud husband and father of three young, handsome, and talented boys.
John brings his professional experience and attitude to the Scene Shop and does his best to share his knowledge with the students he supervises. "If I can share any part of my learning experiences with my students, whether it be life lessons or skills I have acquired over the years, I know I can make an impression."
